At the time of writing Team GB are second in the medals table – yes, that’s right, I said second!!!! That’s one medal ahead of where we were at this point in 2012 and a massive 14 ahead of our performance in Beijing. Keep it up guys, you are doing amazingly!!!
It was another good day yesterday. Our cyclists did well again, with Mark Cavendish winning his first olympic medal – silver in the omnium. Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro performed spectacularly in the dressage, earning 93.85% and winning their third olympic gold!
In the field events, Sophie Hitchon was surprised and clearly absolutely delighted to be the first GB woman to win a bronze in the hammer. Well done Sophie!
Our women’s hockey team are through to the semi-final on Wednesday – the team here is going to be divided tomorrow as GB faces New Zealand – sorry Dr Glenn!!
Coming up today:
In the velodrome, Laura Trott continues her campaign to retain her omnium title and win her fourth gold – she is currently in the lead at the halfway stage. Jason Kenny, meanwhile, starts his campaign for a sixth gold medal.
Giles Scott is in action in the sailing and guaranteed a gold medal in the Finn class.
In gymnastics, Amy Tinkler is in the floor exercise final followed by Nile Wilson in the horizontal bar final – let’s hope they can do as well as Max Whitlock and Louis Smith.
Then it’s back to the diving pool (hopefully it’s now blue) to see Jack Laugher in the 3m springboard semi-final.
Nicola Adams is also in action today, starting the defence of her boxing title from London.
