Team GB Paralympic Profiles

To get you ready and inspired for the Paralympic games in Rio, we are giving you an insight into what it takes to become the best of the super-humans. The struggles and adversity that many of our Team GB Paralympians have over-come is to be admired. First up is Jim Roberts.

Jim (from Welshpool) was a cross country runner before having both legs amputated after contracting bacterial meningitis whilst at University. During his 2 and a half year spell in hospital, he was introduced to Wheelchair Rugby by a nurse who was overseeing his rehabilitation. Although he still has limited movement in his arms and hands, 2013 saw Jim debut at the European Championships. Jim also plays for Pheonix Heat (in the USA) in the winter, and for London WRC in the summer. Now 28, as the only welsh member of Team GB’s side, he is aiming for Gold at Rio 2016, as Team GB are the current European Champions.

In 2010 Jim returned to his studies and has a first class honours degree in Architectural Design Technology. Good luck Jim and Team GB in the Wheelchair Rugby!
