Hollie Arnold stars in our second Team GB Paralympian prolife. Having being born without a right hand or forearm, this never stopped Hollie aiming big. From a young age she was interested in athletics (amongst many other sports) but specifically throwing the Javelin and Discus. She was County Champion at Javelin in her age group, competing against able bodied girls. At 11 years old, she participated in the Disability Sports Events in Blackpool, competing in 7 events and winning 7 Gold medals and breaking 7 National Records. Over the next few years Hollie participated in both able bodied and disability competitions, and at the young age of 14, Hollie was selected to represent Team GB at Beijing 2008 Paralympics.
With continued success in the World Junior and Senior Competitions, she was also selected for London 2012. Throwing a lifetime best of 36.27M soared Hollie to 5th in the Senior World Rankings. More recently, she was won back-to-back World Championships in Javelin throwing and now at 22 years of age, Hollie is once again representing Team GB in athletics at Rio 2016. Now training in South Wales, Hollie will be hoping for Gold medals in the Athletics at Rio 2016!
